Viviannes recent works see her delving into an unusual style of mixed media relief. Working with mediums such as wax and oil paint, and items such as bones, feathers and pebbles, the line between 2D and 3D art becomes blurred. While able to be hung on a wall these works are quite sculptural, utilizing objects that project from, or are embedded into, the base surface.
They can be viewed from a distance as an abstract combination of colour and texture while a more intimate world is revealed upon closer viewing, with delicate techniques and almost microscopic details.
Created with minimal preconceived ideas of what a finished work will look like, Vivianne combines the unusual and embraces any ‘accidents’ that occur along the way.
No matter what the subject matter or style of her work, Viviannes works are bound to be slightly unusual and to feature luscious textures, a lyrical sense of line, sensual forms and sumptuous colours as found in nature.
